Make sure your 2009 is a better year than 2008...

Hello all!

Well, we are getting covered in blankets of snow recently as we are just starting to get into what I anticipate will be an active winter season.  I believe everyone gets a blast of the arctic, cold air; it's just the amount and type of precipitation that may be different.  As some of you are looking to add humidity back into your homes, due to the dry, cold air, it should be easy for you to understand why CONTROLLING humidity in your home is so critical to the health and comfort of you family, but also to the preservation of your home and furnishings.  If you are too dry, I recommend that you take a look at Dennie's blog on that, and take special note of the comfort window he demonstrates...it is a very important chart to understand.

Comfort Window

The takeaway is that you don't want to be out of that center "optimum zone".  If you are on either end of that chart, your humidity is out of control and you need to seriously think about getting the right product to take care of it.

My discussions are about bringing humidity down, and why having the right dehumidifier is so critical.  Why is bringing humidity down so important?  Well, that's why I want you to consider: how do you want to live your life in 2009?  In the Southern climates, this question is very important as we get into the early months of 2009.  We have four key benefits to bringing your humidity down to appropriate levels, which I recommend is 50% Rh.
  1. Health of you and your family
  2. Comfort of you and your family
  3. Preservation of your home and furnishings
  4. Energy savings opportunities

The greatest advantage of having the right dehumidifier for your home is that everyone gets access to all of those benefits at one time, not just dry air.  I will cover each point in subsequent posts.  So, look for my next post as I go into more discussion on point #1 - HEALTH.

Happy holidays and look forward to talking to you more as we get ready for 2009!
