How do I set the dip switches on my Aprilaire dehumidifier?

Monday, November 28, 2011 by Aprilaire Team
Consumer question:

I have the DIP switches to run my 1750 every 3 hours for 20 minutes yet it seems to run for much longer than that. Is there a problem with the unit or am I not understanding the role of the DIP switches properly?

Aprilaires' response:

Thank you for your recent purchase of the Aprilaire dehumidifier. We expect that you will enjoy the comfort that the dehumidifier provides for many years.

The Dip switch settings you refer to are designed to determine how often the unit will take a sample of humidity level; and to determine the length of time the fan will run per sampling cycle.

The cycle period, when set for three hours will take a sample of air every three hour to see if dehumidification is needed, if needed the dehumidifier will run as long as necessary to dehumidify the air the setpoint set with the control knob. The cycle time determines how long the fan will run during the testing period. We have found that in the majority of conditions that setting the cycle period to one hour, and the cycle time set to 0 is the most cost effective setting for comfort.
