Aprilaires' response:

The ventilation option can be used during the winter months to bring fresh air into the home. In conjunction with an outdoor temperature sensor it can ensure that ventilation only occurs when the outdoor air temperature is above 20°F unless you furnace is currently in a heat cycle. The unit will not ventilate if the outdoor temperature is below 0°F. The fresh air is usually brought into your HVAC system return duct, meaning that any air filtration will be done by your system's air cleaner. Any air drawn through the dehumidifier would be filtered by its internal filter, which is a MERV-8 rated filter.
