Flashing light on my humidistat, how do I reset?

Consumer question:

On the control it saying to replace the water panel as the light is flashing. I replace it and it still flashed. Do I need to reset something?

Aprilaires’ response:

Thank you for contacting us.
If the change water panel light is a yellow light:
1. Note the setting the control knob is at, then rotate the knob of the humidifier control clockwise to the "Test/Reset" position. (The knob will stop just past 7. Continue to turn the knob through the first stop to put the knob all the way to "Test/Reset".)
2. When the knob is set in the "Test/Reset" position, the green "Humidifier On" light will illuminate. After 5 seconds the green "Humidifier On" light will blink indicating a system reset. At this time the "Change Water Panel" light will turn off.
3. Be sure to turn the control knob back to the previous setting as the humidifier will not operate if left in "Test/Reset".

If the change water panel is a green light:

1. Note the setting the control knob is at, then rotate the knob of the humidifier control clockwise to the "Test/Reset" position.
2. When the knob is set in the "Test/Reset" position, the green "Change Water Panel" light will begin to blink.
3. Wait five to ten seconds then rotate the knob out of the "Test/Reset" position and back to the previous setting.
4. The green "Change Water Panel" light will turn off and the humidifier will be ready for normal operation.
5. Be sure to turn the control knob back to the previous setting as the humidifier will not operate if left in "Test/Reset".

I have the same issue with the yellow blinking light after changing the water panel 2 days ago. I have the Aprilaire 400 Manual model, which was installed 3 years ago, and as per the Aprilaire manual I moved the control knob to test reset while the Heating furnace was operating and the blower operating also. The Change Water Filter Light (Yellow) continues to blink. To eliminate the blinking light do I need to do the above reset steps without the HVAC and blower running? Many thanks.

i currently have the Aprilaire 400 Manual model, which was dealer installed in November 2010. This past Saturday I changed the water filter and the yellow light continues to blink. As noted in the owner’s manual I moved the control knob to test while the HVA system was running and blower was operating. Did not see humidier light blink for a reset. Do I have to reset the system without the system running since my 400 model series operates "Manually?"

      Dear Mr. James,
Thank you for contacting us with regards to your Aprilaire Humidistat. On our early digital controls, the words Test/Reset were difficult to see as they are embossed on the cover, but not a different color. Every control that has a Change Water Panel indicator has a Reset position on the control knob. The green Humidifier ON light should flash when you turn the control knob to the Reset position. It’s located one step past the 7 setting on the dial. After a few seconds, the yellow Change Water Panel indicator will stop flashing. See the attached image for more information.
Please let us know if we can be of further assistance.

I tried the reset procedure after changing the water panel in my Aprilaire Model 400A and the yellow light continues to blink. I tried it both with the heat running and not running.

      Hello Dick,
Thank you for contacting us. Could you please advise which humidistat you have? Does it have a digital screen on the control? Do you have a “blower activation” switch below the dial? Please advise because it would adjust my recommendation in trouble shooting the control. You could contact us at 800-334-6011 to discuss this further if you‘d like.

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to be of assistance.
