Should I turn off my Aprilaire Model 350 in the Summer Months?

Consumer question:

I have a Model 350 Aprilaire humidifier and I was wondering are we supposed to turn this off during the summer?

Aprilaires’ response:

Usually summertime brings enough humidity that the humidifiers will not run. If the controller senses RH level above 45% it will not let the humidifier run.

If by chance you are using a dehumidifier and RH levels may get below that level, you may turn the controller for the humidifier to the off position or the lowest possible setting. It will not create humidity then.

So, then, when you turn your heat back on for the winter, you can turn the humidistat controller back to the normal setting to create humidity for you.
